Customer Reviews

Rowenta IB61005 Precision Ironing Board4
This ironing board is sturdy and the wide ironing surface is superior. The accompanying cover is thick but could be more taut. I'm glad I bought it.

Heavy duty!5
I just received this board. It's larger than it looks. I was surprised at how wide it is. It's about 50% wider than "normal" boards. Almost like you're ironing on a table.

It's super sturdy and the entire unit is made of heavy duty steel so the board is a bit heavy. It's built like a tank so I expect it to last a long time.

sturdy and useful4
I like this ironing board because it sits a little higher which makes ironing somewhat easier. I also like its simple design and resting place for the iron itself.

Rowenta solid performance

I was already an owner of a Rowenta that weathered hard use for over 20 years. Therefore, I am accustomed to a heavy iron, weight being one of the negatives frequently cited on these irons. This thing WORKS. It has plenty of steam vents and a larger water tank. I am very satisfied! BTW, I saw it at Dillard's for $100 this week.

This iron is worth the money!

I have always hated ironing; I'm just not very good at it. With the high costs of our dry cleaning bills, I decided to buy a good iron and try again. My mother recommended this iron and she was right...it works great!! My husband's shirts (with the addition of heavy starch) look like they have been to the cleaners. The iron has paid for itself in two weeks. It produces variable amounts of steam and is heavy enough to press out the toughest wrinkles, such as my husband's heavy khaki pants. Since I was not very good at ironing, it took me a few shirts and pants to get a clean finished look. But practice does make perfect and the money we are saving has been worth extra time.

Very nice iron!

This is a great iron. It's quite heavy, but I like that. It really gets out the wrinkles. I don't even mind ironing any more!

My third Rowenta iron

This is truly the best iron ever. If you spend money on your clothes, then you should spend money to maintain them. No other iron is heavy enough to press a shirt but this one uses it's weight as an advantage. This iron is by far superior to anything I've used, even professional pressing.

I love my new Rowenta iron!

This is my third Rowenta iron and each one is more improved than the last. What I love about the DX-8800 is the larger water tank and the weight of the iron. I use steam a lot and hardly have to fill up the tank. The heaviness of it makes ironing easier. I also like that it has a strong burst of steam and the vertical steam option. The cost of it is higher than most, but I feel is well worth it. I hope to use it for many years to come. I would strongly recommend this iron to anyone.

I think this is a fabulous iron..

I have to admit before buying this iron I had the same old clanking cheesy iron I had used for 10 years ...that is when I used it. I usually just rewashed something rather than dragging that awful iron out....

It felt odd buying such an expensive iron (and I paid $10 more than amazon is charging) when I wasnt sure I would use it but I knew there had to be a better way... I have had it for six months and have had no mechanical issues. I see there are reviews with some various issues - I guess every single mechanical item has some individual lemons that come off the line ...it happens. Also unhappy customers are much more likely to voice their opinions that satisfied ones...

First let me say that yes, its heavier than cheaper irons but I think this actually helps 'press' out the wrinkles and pushing it back and forth isnt an issue for me with the weight - and I am not bench pressing it. However, if you need a light iron because you have minimal hand strength this wouldnt be a good choice. It holds a boat-load of water so you aren't filling it all the time. I just LOVE that. You can vary the steam and there is an auto-clean feature using the steam. The iron is also meant to use tap water, not anything special...

I have to say I iron now - and unlike my last iron where I would have to make pass after pass to get out a wrinkle, with this iron usually one pass is enough on regular weight clothes so ironing is actually quicker.

Rowenta is a very good quality name and a long standing company known for great irons... will every single iron come off the assembly line absolute perfection? probably not but I feel sure it is the individual iron and not the whole line because I think this has been a trouble free and great iron.

Very Nice

Before buying this iron, i googled "best steam iron", and this one came up. I read tons of reviews and saw more good than bad. I just went to Target an bought it for $[...] bucks. I only really need it for my dress shirts. My shirts cost a lot of money and i don't like to use starch spray on my them and i heard a really good steam iron is the way to go. So i just ironed 10 shirts from the wash, and maaaaan... this iron is awesome! I had one shirt that's been sitting in my closet for months. The pattern in the fabric makes this shirt very vulnerable to wrinkles after washing. I ran this iron over it, and bam! Wrinkles were no more!

This iron feels super smooth. I'm a guy and think the weight on it is perfect. i read a lot of people say that it was too heavy. I filled it to the max with water and found it to be just fine.

Now the downside. Leaking and spitting!! I just bought it, ironed 10 shirts, and already leaking and spitting. Now i don't know irons at all, so i don't know if that's just supposed to happen or if it's defective. The box says "anti drip", but it also says it only "helps prevent drips on low temp" settings. Also, the instructions says to use tap water or half tap/distilled. I just went ahead and used bottled water (which the instructions also suggest to use).

So if it didn't leak/spit, i'd give it a 5. My old iron was a black and decker 30 dollar piece of [...]. The steam on it didn't even get wrinkles out, if anything, created them. To be honest, i didn't even know steam itself could get wrinkles out. Basically, Rowenta's iron don't play, It's serious!

Overall, I say get. Even if you have to exchange it every 3 months, hell, i'll do it!

Good iron with some problems

A good iron but some controls hard to adjust. The water fill window cover very hard to open & close. Also, the temperature adjustment dial is very hard to adjust due to stiff operation. People with small hands or arthritis will find the controls very hard to change.
The operation of the iron seems to be working well to this point. (Only used a month.)This is a replacement for another Rowenta iron which I owned for 5 years and loved. Unfortunately the cord developed a short at the connection to the handle and I could find no replacement part, so bought this one. Hopefully the connection will last longer. I liked the original Rowenta better than this one due to the controls being easier to change.

great product with touch of german engineering quality

I got a costco version of this product, DX-8600, which is only 1500 watts, but the features are identical. The iron heated up in 30 seconds, the steam burst was powerful, and all the controls were quite self-explanatory. The INOX soleplate is installed with precision, and the water inlet cover is quite durable. I have another Black and Decker D2020, and in comparison the D2020's soleplate edges are crooked, and the water inlet cover is quite brittle, and the D2020's soleplate is smaller than the DX-8600's. Consumer Reports rated the D2020 and D2030 much higher than any Rowenta, but I will stay with this DX-8600 for a while.

Rowena Steam Ifron

I find this iron very easy to use. The multiple steam holes makes ironing easier and faster. I have a small problem with it spitting water. I have tried using 1/2 tap and 1/2 spring water and I have tried adjusting the steam flow, but it still tends to spit. Overall, I am very pleased with this iron.

Nice iron

I have used Rowenta irons for many years and they have always been quite good. I don't do a LOT of ironing, just pressing minor wrinkles out of shirts and trousers that I picked up from the laundry/dry cleaners. I have sometimes found other irons to lack the steam power to do this very well; this iron, however, has produces plenty of steam, even when held vertically.

This model is somewhat heavier than my last Rowenta iron, which generally I prefer. However, it doesn't glide as effortlessly across the clothes, which I suspect will improve with some use.

I read a number of reviews in which the user atated ironing had become fun. Um, get real... it's ironing, it's never going to be fun. This at least makes it not such a chore.

It's heavy but it works well,

I wanted an iron I could use for sewing, quilting and ironing clothes. I specifically wanted a "shot of steam" feature similar to my 30 year old iron that had died, where you can spray a little bit of steamy water in front of where you are ironing. This iron meets those criteria. It has a sharp point in front, which does make it easier to get in those sewing corners. It has well-distributed steam, and that works well. It uses spring water and I always have that around. The directions are very clear. I like the fact that it shuts off and then turns back on when you wiggle it. That is particularly useful for quilting.

It is HEAVY. Very heavy. It is also tall, which will take some getting used to. I feel like my hand is very far from the cloth. Of course, that is perception, not reality.

Very *NICE* but WORTH the price? Hmmmmmm

This is my 4th Rowenta Iron (YES I'm clumsy but I *LOVE* Rowenta's). This was by far the most expensive that I've bought but I had a gift certificate to offset the cost. Honestly the only difference between the Professsional iron(s) and the $50-60 Rowenta's models is the WATER TANK and the WEIGHT (this is good for my wrist why?). However, it's nice that I don't have to keep filling up the water tank every two items especially when Rowenta suggests that we add water when the iron is UNHEATED (you've got to kidding!) But still, is it worth the extra money? Honey, I think *NOT* unless you have a gift certificate too. Also, as much I dropped them back in the day .. they keep on tickin'!! I've gotten BETTER over the years (13+) but this one (maybe others too) have the anti-slip on the bottom... so that should help eliminate some TIPPING OVER and any unnecessary accidental skin contact (ouch!). VERY NICE but truthfully why don't they ALL have this anti-slip? These aren't the $9.99 K-*art specials, so Rowenta SHOULD be able to add this to all of their irons. Hmm .. my next comments will be to the Rowenta folks with this EXACT suggestion too! Seriously. Happy Buying and remember .. this is a GOOD PRODUCT!!!!
